Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey died in 1997, but that would not quite be the last we heard from him! The following year saw the publication of Satan Speaks!, a collection of LaVeyssays that had not previously appeared in book form, now comprising his final word on things! It’s been a long time since we revived any of old Anton’s perspectives on this show, but we’re ready to listen as Satan Speaks!… regardless of what comes out of his mouth!

Wow…..so, this was honestly incredibly entertaining!
I’ve spent the past several months catching up on all old episodes, but I’ve specifically avoided the Anton Lavey episodes, for a few reasons! Mostly because I don’t find his ideas and writings that interesting or in line with my own thinking! The little I’ve read of him, I find myself agreeing with maybe 30% of it…and the rest is just meh! And I wasn’t super keen on listening to you three just trash the questionable stuff!
But holy SHIT….apparently the little I have read, was the cream of the crop! Until today I had no idea Anton was so…..WEIRD! And I like weird! But not THIS kind of weird! Nor did I realize he’s idk…a rape fetishist!? Absolutely obsessed with women’s urine!? Full of opinions about……..”The Jewish Question!?”
Ok, enough of the (!!!!) ….it kinda ruins the nuance of the written word, doesn’t it?!?!?!?!?!
I’d always felt kinda ambivalent about old Anton. But after this…yeah, fuck him. Did he do some good? Sure. But apparently that represented just a tiny morsel of his otherwise batshit borderline sociopathic delusional bigoted mind.
But……the thing that made this episode so hilariously entertaining…were the reactions and takes from you three. Especially Tabitha….her “No! No! No!” and total incredulous shocked bafflement during the “women pee themselves when aroused” segment had me in stitches. I was close to tears. And her insight about Anton sounding uncannily like Trump…is not wrong.
Gotta say tho, I am a bit surprised, maybe slightly disappointed, that there aren’t any comments here from the CoS trolls. I love when they scurry to defend their dear leader. They’re such edgelords…and it amuses me greatly when they whine about BMA episodes.
Anyway….thanks for the laugh! I needed that tonight. I love the serious historical sociopolitical episodes…but this was a fun change of pace. 🙂
