Ooh! Excited for this one.
I find it very interesting how Baphomet has, over time, very naturally come to be THE definitive personified mythic character of modern secular Satanism.
I certainly get it on an aesthetic level…especially as TST rendered it in their iconic statue. It’s imposing, a wee bit scary looking, but also powerful and compelling and alluring….and chock full of dualities. I love how fluid it is in terms of gender as well. No wonder it freaks out the fundies.
Now I just gotta save up and get my own real nice relatively large statue. The altar episode got me feeling quite inspired to do that. I have a fairly puny altar….but I want to make it more of my practice and expression. And a big ol metal or stone Baphy reigning over my table would be perfect.
One last note….just wanted to say, whichever of you chooses the images for each episode…the thumbnail image that appears on the episodes page…does an excellent job every time. As a former web designer, I appreciate that attention to strong visual presentation. Every image perfectly represents the subject…and is always just compelling to look at.
