See, initially I didn’t really get your comment. Saying “Appalachian Satanists” out loud I thought…that actually doesn’t have a great ring to it.

Until I realized you were probably pronouncing it “apple-AYSH-an” …which would have a nice alliterative ring to it.

Unfortunately, that’s like THE biggest faux-pas around these here hollers. You’d get funny looks if you pronounced it anything other than “apple-ATCH-an.”

Then again, you’d get funny looks from some if you’re anything other than a conservative white heterosexual man. So….yeah.

Maybe I should start a group called Segregationist Creationist Satanists….and just confuse the hell out of everyone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You got a Tennessee listener right here! I live in Johnson City, TN. And I’ve been a big fan of the show since April of this year….already caught up on all the old episodes.

And yep, being a Satanist in TN is a bit of a tightrope walk…although, I’m often pleasantly surprised. My city is only about 70,000 in population, in the foothills of the mountains…but it’s a bit of a college town with a fairly cool downtown and arts/culture vibe…so I don’t feel entirely alone.

Hell, just a few months ago the girl checking me out at Kroger noticed my sigil of lucifer tattoo….and commented on it, knowing what it was, and basically saying(as much as she could at work, surrounded by co-workers) that she was on the same team.

That’s just one of a fair number of encounters where I’m often surprised by how many of us there are here…in a relatively small Appalachian southern town. We’re hiding in plain sight…. bwahhahaha (the maniacal laugh doesn’t work nearly as well as text…)
