Awesome to hear…and thanks for the reply Daniel.
I feel a wee bit dumb for posting my comment before I had gotten to the main topic, because as you pointed out….the sound from then on is just fine.
Either way, it’s a small thing when it does happen. It’s just that my own laptop speakers aren’t that great….and anything that isn’t super crisp is often super hard to make sense of. But that’s true for all podcasts, not just yours….and is why I’m saving up to get a new laptop.
Anyway, thanks again for addressing that. Looking forward to Tuesday…always excited to find out what the topic will be.
Just hope we get those news doots. For whatever reason Tabitha didn’t do that in one recent episode and I was surprisingly bummed out lol.
Hi Sean; sound quality is very important to us–that’s why we’ve got Jesse, and he’s a really important part of what makes Black Mass Appeal tick.
Ordinarily we record in person on the same equipment, which makes a big difference, but over the past 18 months that’s become more difficult for a variety of reasons. Recording remotely offers more opportunities for error–for example, in this most recent episode, for whatever reason, the program we use didn’t recognize my external mic during the intro and news sections. (If you stick it out, I sound much better during the main topic.)
In the past, particularly toward the beginning of the pandemic, my mic was just plain not as good as everyone else’s, so some of those 2020 episodes are a little rough. Thanks to our Patreon backers we were able to upgrade me to something decent, and you’ll notice a change toward the end of last year.

]]>Again….not trying to be overly critical. I only bring it up because a few(not most) past episodes were really hard to listen through till the end. It often happens with guests(which I realize you can do nothing about), but hopefully there’s some solution for Daniel’s mic issue.
I don’t want to miss out on experiencing the full depth of his wise deep sonorous voice. (don’t let him read that part lol)
That’s all. Love the show!
